Since I was little girl I always had a dream to become a teacher and make a difference in children’ education. Currently, I am an instructional aide in the preschool program at San Ysidro school district. I have a certificate of achievement as child development teacher. The certificate of achievement as a child development teacher is not enough to work as an elementary school teacher. To become an elementary school teacher I need a bachelors’ degree in Science and Art with the major in Liberal Studies, teaching credential, student teaching, deal with new duties, responsibilities, and work environment, receive salary and benefits.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve dreamed of becoming a teacher and making a difference in the lives of children. Presently, I am an instructional aide in the preschool program with the San Ysidro School District, where I was awarded a Certificate of Achievement in Child Development.
This Certificate is not enough to teach in the elementary schools. To become an elementary school teacher, I will need a Bachelor of Science degree. These studies include classes in the liberal arts and student teaching. As an elementary school teacher, I will have new duties and responsibilities, a new work environment, a higher salary and increased benefits. It would be a dream come true.

Joining the Armed Forces Reserves and Americorps will give you benefits that could pay for your college experience. Of the two I think the Armed Forces would be best. You can earn the college credits while IN the service and supplement it afterward.
Now before you think that I’m some recruiter trying to get you into the service know this. I am a retired military man and now a teacher. I get more retirement pay than a starting teacher makes. I think seeing other places and things have expanded my opportunities and made me very competitive in the work space.
Certification with a degree is the only way to go. Bite the bullet, get the degree is the only way hon.

I went back to full time teaching, this time as a high school teacher, three years ago. Do it, it is worth the commitment for the four years of study.
I started as a TAFE teacher as I was teaching my trade of Carpenter and Joiner. I completed a Bachelor of Technology Education. Now I can teach woodwork, metalwork, tech’ drawing etc etc. DO it!
