Just play your game and don’t be nervous on court. If you get really nervous on court, your foot work is going to mess up. Relax and play your game. Good luck :)

just keep telling yourself that your going to win because if you go in down you will never win.
and theres always a chance so dont give up
and if you go on expertvillage.com you should be able to find some videos on tennis tricks and tips

Nervous could take a toll on anyone, it will make you loose all the power and the sense of the court, and also take away your movement. Therefore keep a happy feet (moving feet), keep your body loose by begin with easy shots, keep everything smooth, give yourself some margin or error, then increase your intensity as the match go on. NO free points to your opponent, make him earn it. Keep the ball on the opponent weaker side ( usually back hand ). Last thing is don’t remember to breath like you are having asthma to help you when you are nervious.
Just play your game, trying new shots won’t help you because every shot require time to develop. Good Luck

The number one thing I can advise you after years of playing tennis is to not give away anything for free to your opponents. Make them earn each and every point! Cut down on silly errors and run after every ball and get it back in the court. Give away nothing for free and it’ll drive your opponents nuts. Focus more on consistency rather than power. Let your opponents make the mistakes. It works for Rafa and it can work for you too.

Go buy the book, “Winning Ugly”, by Brad Gilbert. I guarantee you’ll like it and it will help your game against “better” players. I would go out to Barnes and Noble or call your local bookstore to see if they have it, and just get it right away. Watch some Sony Ericsson Finals this weekend. Sometimes watching good tennis helps “program” your own tennis game. Relax, have a plan, do your best to execute that plan, and have fun! After all, its a game. And even though losing isn’t as much fun, you could learn a lot about a loss.

make sure you have a lot of energy for the match (not so much that you’ll get hyper and go overboard). Do strategy. Make up a plan. Try to hit the ball as hard as you can. On overheads or lobs smack down the ball as hard as ever. The key is keep your mind on tennis.

You probably can’t come up with new shots or plays by Monday, but will have to rely on what you can do best now. Look for weaknesses in your opponent and exploit those weaknesses. See if you can hit to their backhand and go to the net, for instance. See if their overhead is weak, so that you can hit lobs. Try drop shots followed by lobs. You have to feel them out. If nothing else, you can beat a lot of players by just being more steady and consistant than they are. Keep hitting balls back deep until they miss one. Good luck, and don’t get down if you don’t win every match. Even the best lose now and then. Look at the current pros.
