Firstly, find out whether they’re legal there and whether anyone can import them – I can’t help there, I haven’t got a clue.
The check with your airline well in advance to make sure they allow them to be carried (most do) and what procedures they want you to follow. You’ll have to put them with your checked luggage and probably in a hard case. you’ll also have to declare them at check in.
Don’t just turn up at the airport and try to carry them on or check them without declaring them as it’ll only land you in trouble and cause you delays.

Ok, I’m not to sure about Peru. However, I’d call your airline and ask them. I.E. just 2 weeks ago I went to San Diego, I wanted to bring my M1 Garand to SD to shoot with my uncle, and I asked about it. Long story short they gave me all I needed to know. So, Considering I’m only 14 and could go to SD with a real rifle, you should be able to just get a hard case or other protective case ans get it checked.

I am assuming you live in the US. The US considers airsoft guns a toy not a real gun. However I do not know airsoft laws in Peru so I do not know if you will have troubles with customs there.

Find out if they are legal, don’t get him a metal one. [If you do disassemble it and put the pieces in different suitcases.] Make sure they know you have a toy gun in your bag(s).

if you put the weapon in your bag (but not your carryon) and informt he airport in advance there should be no problem. if your worried about that, try Mailing it.
